Off Piste Skiing

(December - May)  Off-piste is open to anyone who can already ski reasonably well on piste. If you're getting a bit bored with piste skiing then perhaps off-piste skiing is for you.

Chamonix is renowned worldwide for its off-piste with runs to suit all levels. The famous Vallee Blanche starts at the the top of the Aiguille du Midi cable car at 3842 metres and is many peoples first off-piste experience. The skiing takes you through a wonderful glacier-covered valley for 22km, and it's all off-piste! There are a number of different route options for the descent, depending on your experience level & the conditions. You could even ski it under a full moon?

The lifts of the Grands Montets ski area give access to a huge variety of off -piste terrain. With reliable snow conditions, there is something to suit everybody from beginner to expert.

For somewhere a bit different there's La Grave and the ski area of La Meije, where there are no pistes, no ski patrol, no avalanche control, just off-piste skiing!

Over the Italian border, Gressoney and the linked area of Alagna offer huge scope for cruisy off-piste runs to steep couloirs with good Italian food & coffee, guaranteed to compliment the day!

I can offer private guiding for groups of up to 6 skiers depending on where we go, what we do & the conditions. Introduction to off-piste, off-piste improvers and couloir skiing is all on offer, depending on your level of experience & your requirements. As well as enjoying some fantastic skiing I can also offer coaching in avalanche avoidance and the use of avalanche transceivers.
